Women of Columbia

All ladies that are golfing members at Columbia Edgewater are invited to be part of the Women of Columbia (WOC). Don't be shy about getting involved in the many activities, such as golf, social events and dining. You will create friendships that will last a lifetime!

There are countless opportunities at Columbia Edgewater for women to enjoy the club and facilities. The WOC is one of six governing committees that helps the Board of Directors ensure the club’s success. They also plan many social events throughout the year and the women’s golf program offers many ways to enjoy our beautiful golf course. Whether you are new to the game of golf, a skilled player looking to improve your game, or simply wish to enjoy social events of the club, the Women of Columbia look forward to meeting YOU!

The Crest Room is the nerve center of all things golf for the WOC. It is located in the women’s locker room and is a great place to get more information about the women’s golf programs or to sign-up for events.

Let's Get Social!

The WOC proudly plans many of the club’s special events. Everyone is welcome to attend. Details of all upcoming events and activities are published in the The Columbian, the club’s monthly newsletter, along with promotional emails. There are annual women’s events and the Columbia Kidz program is specially designed for your younger family members. Highlighted events include:

• Poolside/Family Social Activities
• Knitting
• Women’s Spring Social
• The Annual Meeting & Luncheon

• Women’s Mahjong
• Bridge Groups
• The Holiday Luncheon

There are many ways to get involved with the club even if you don’t golf. A Mentors Group is being instituted that will give new members an opportunity to meet and build a friendship with a member of the WOC. If you have an interest in learning more about our club programs, we would be happy to introduce you to a WOC member. This is a great first step in getting to know the wonderful women of Columbia Edgewater and the many fun social and golf events that are planned and organized for women and your family.

Women's Golf Programs

The best way to get involved in golf at Columia Edgewater is to join one of the groups of women who play together during the primary golf season from mid-March to mid-October. There are also opportunities to play organized women’s golf during the winter season as the golf course is playable year round. All women are welcome to play golf with any of the groups. To be involved in the competitions and/or play for prizes, you will be asked to join a “Trophy Fund.”

18-Holers: Sign-up to play a full 18-hole round on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Special games with payouts, tournaments, guest days, and mixers are offered in addition to regular stroke play.

9-Holers: Weekly 9-hole rounds are on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Activities are similar to the 18-holers with tournaments, member-guest events, and exchanges with 9-hole groups from other local private clubs for golf and lunch.

Sundowners: Designed for women who work during the day, this group of fun-loving ladies plays 9-holes on Thursday evening beginning at 5:15 pm. Weekly play is followed by a social dinner gathering. Organized play includes monthly game nights with prizes and one tournament during the season.
